Addio commosso per Suni

Oggi è l'ultimo giorno, Suni ne ha passati 191 sulla ISS e l'ultimo sembrava così distante, invece il momento dell'addio è arrivato, l'addio da quel modulo che ormai chiamava Casa dal Dicembre scorso, l'addio dai compagni di missione e l'addio da tutto il team che da Terra l'ha seguita per tutto questo tempo, il momento dell'addio ufficiale è stata l'ultima conferenza con il team di Mosca e quello Americano, ma per salutare l'equipaggio in maniera più intima ci sarà tempo più tardi.
Con voce rotta dall'emozione ecco quello che ha detto in questo bellissimo discorso, senza traduzione perchè sicuramente si sarebbe perso qualche cosa:
"Exploration isn't necessary or always logical, it's something that comes from inside each and every one of us. I believe we're all born with this curiosity called exploration. Human spaceflight is just one aspect of exploration, but it's the one that I've been intimately familiar with over the past six months.

"So I feel I can talk to how it affects thousands of people around the world who have worked on and still work on this amazing engineering and science project we call the international space station. These folks, along with their families, have dedicated their lives to ensure the success of the astronauts and cosmonauts curiosity called exploration for the next generation.

"I'm saddened to say goodbye, but that means progress is being made and it's time for the international space station to grow a little more," e conclude commossa "You and the ISS will always be a part of me as you are part of so many who will pave the way for our future."

Alla fine dell'intervento ha fatto partire la famosa canzone di James Blunt's "Goodbye My Lover:"

It may be over but it won't stop there,
I am here for you if you'd only care.
You touched my heart you touched my soul.
You changed my life and all my goals. …

Goodbye my friend.

You have been the one for me.

E in seguito una dedica particolare a Clay Anderson cui lascia il testimone, con una canzone decisamente più spiritosa e ben augurante: "Stayin' Alive" dei Bee Gees. Facendo letteralmente ballare il controllo missione e l'intero equipaggio in un improbabile stile anni '70.
E concludendo con:
"I hope Clay finds his white spandex pants…"

E questa la dedica di Yurchikhin:
"we had real great time with Suni here. She did real great job in space. … We would like to say Suni, Suni have a good trip and a safe trip, not only Suni, all shuttle crew. And good luck."
